Hatched out!
Incubation is 14 days.
It is 30 days from the hatching of the first set of eggs
to the hatching of the second set of eggs from the same parents.
The Dad
(of the older pair hatched April 11 and 12)

with the first baby hatched out today.
This egg was laid April 26.

Dad is still tucking in stems of hay into the nest.
The second egg should hatch out tomorrow.
He wants to get back in where it is warm.
The Mom is close by.
She is making sure the older babies
do not bother Dad by looking to be fed.
The parents can get quite aggressive towards
the older hatchlings at this point,
in order to protect the newer hatchlings need
for food and quiet.
We usually remove the older hatchlings to another cage
a few days after the new hatchlings are born.
They stay in that newer cage for a week or two,
so they can get used to being separate from their parents
and learn to eat entirely on their own.
We then move them to a larger area in our barn,
with the other doves, where they have more room
and food and water.
Mom is settling in close to Dad,
keeping an eye on things!

A few more days and these eggs will be hatching out.
Dad is courting again.
He is dipping his head up and down
while puffing up his chest and cooing.
Now he is feeding the babies.
This takes about one minute.
