DAY 14    APRIL 24  2011
Moving around but staying close together.
The beak on the young birds looks large and knobbly,
and will stay that way for several weeks.
It is one way to tell how old the bird is.

Compare the mother's beak to the young ones' beaks
how much smoother it is.

They are moving around much more, about 30 cm from their nest.
Their legs are not yet very strong.
They need to grow and develop more.

Even though they are moving around a lot more,
they always stay together.

They are noticing the sound of my camera.

The younger pair, eyes more open.

They are also moving around a little bit.

You can really begin to notice the colour difference
between the two babies.
